THE TRIP

July 17-22

Spend five days in one of Hungary’s most historic cities, practicing, racing, and relaxing. Groups that attend the World Championship Races get to compete with some of the world’s best Dragonboat racers, and enjoy some of Hungary’s best cultural offerings.

ITINERARY

SUNDAY, JULY 15, 2018

DEPARTURE

  • Depart from North America on an overnight flight bound for Budapest, Hungary.
  • Select meals, snacks, and refreshments will be served on board the flight.
  • Be sure to read through the great tips and travel information in your MCI handbook!
MONDAY, JULY 16, 2018

ARRIVE IN BUDAPEST AND TRANSFER TO SZEGED

  • Morning arrival in Budapest, Hungary. Upon arrival in Budapest, your MCI tour manager will greet your group at the airport.
  • Together, board your waiting motor coach and transfer to Szeged (travel time is approximately 2.5 hours). Arrive and check in to your accommodations.
  • Introduce yourself to the river Tisz, theoretically you could follow this 600 mile long water to the Danube, which it meets just north of Belgrade in Serbia, and eventually gets to the Black Sea. But only a short part in downtown Szeged is dedicated to the World Championship
TUESDAY, JULY 17, 2018

PRACTICE, ACCLIMATIZATION, RACES

  • Breakfast will be served. Practice in the morning.
  • Use this day to practice, get yourself on the local time zone, get used to the boats, then explore downtown Szeged or even visit one of the outlying villages in the Puszta by bike!
WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2018

RACES & THERMAL BATH

  • Breakfast will be served.
  • Races today according to schedule. Why not visit a Bath house this afternoon? The Anna Thermal Bath house is among the city's charming 19th-century architecture is the neo-renaissance. The warm bubbling pools, steam rooms and saunas evoke the charm of Budapest's famous spas such as Szechenyi and Gellert.
THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2018

RACES & ARCHITECTURE

  • Breakfast will be served.
  • Races today according to schedule. This afternoon stroll through the downtown Szeged, enjoy a coffee, maybe today is a good time to admire art deco palaces, great paintings in the Serbian orthodox church, the New Synagogue and the Votiv Church.
FRIDAY, JULY 20, 2018

RACES & ART

  • Breakfast will be served.
  • Races today according to schedule. The off-time today may be a good time to visit the art collections at Regional Art Center housed in an Reok Palace, which by itself is a great piece of art-deco art.
SATURDAY, JULY 21, 2018

RACES & WATERGAMES

  • Breakfast will be served.
  • Races today according to schedule. Try out the longest all-year-round covered waterslide in Europe, pamper yourself in our adventure pools, relax in a unique "silent" wellness area.
  • This afternoon explore Hungarian wine products on an excursion to a nearby winery.
SUNDAY, JULY 22, 2018

RACES & WINE

  • Breakfast will be served
  • Races today according to schedule. Then watch the races on the Tisza River, meet your old and your new friends at the race ground.
  • Tonight a party will held to celebrate the 2018 Championship, trophies will be collected, maybe a speech held.
MONDAY, JULY 23, 2018

BUDAPEST – NORTH AMERICA

  • After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart for the Budapest Airport and your return flight to Montreal.
  • Select meals, snacks, and refreshments will be served on board the flight.
  • Welcome home! Be sure to get a good night’s sleep and stay hydrated!

Your group's final program will be determined by confirmed times and locations for the races and practices. Although your exact itinerary will vary to accommodate schedules, the same type of activities will be included in your program.

Roundtrip airfare on regularly scheduled flights from North America to Budapest will be arranged and quoted for your group.


ACCOMMODATIONS

7 nights in 4-star hotel (Hotel Novotal), double occupancy, including all hotel service charges and taxes, in downtown Szeged.


TRANSPORTATION

  • Roundtrip transportation from Budapest to Szeged
  • Daily transfers from the hotel to the race track in a modern, climate-controlled motor coach with a professional driver (private transfers)
  • Private coach to wine tasting event in the area

NOTES ON PRICING

The prices for land services in this offer are valid until September 30, 2017. In order to guarantee these prices, please send a confirmation deposit of $1500 and registration materials by this date. Prices cover above dates and listed services only, and are based on current availability. Severe fluctuation in the exchange rates before the group has confirmed their plans can also lead to a change in the price. Therefore, please inform MCI in writing of your confirmed plans when they are made.

FLIGHTS:

At this time, no flight reservations have been made for your group. The tour package prices in this proposal are based on the most currently available group flight quotes for your dates of travel as indicated on this itinerary. Please understand that airfare and seats are subject to availability and can only be guaranteed when seats are reserved. MCI recommends to secure your group’s flights as early as possible in the tour planning process. In order to reserve group space and lock in airfare, a $150 per person flight deposit will be required. Upon receipt of your deposit, our flight department will confirm the best flight option for your group. Therefore, we suggest that you prepare to send us your group’s flight deposit upon confirmation of this tour.

FLIGHT TAXES AND SURCHARGES:

Flight taxes and fuel surcharges are subject to change until tickets are issued. For this reason, flight taxes and surcharges are not included in the price of this tour. The exact amount of flight taxes and surcharges will be determined by the airlines at the time of ticketing which normally occurs 30 to 60 days before departure (but can be done earlier). The amount of the flight taxes and surcharges varies greatly depending on a wide range of factors from the number of scheduled connections to the price of fuel.


IMPORTANT TOUR INFORMATION

MOTOR COACH:

In this itinerary, a standard motor coach seating up to 49 passengers is used. Should the group size increase beyond 49 passengers, an additional motor coach will need to be hired, affecting the cost of the land program. Please notify MCI of the exact size of your group. Additional transfers or a change in itinerary may result in added coach fees.

MANAGER AND LOCAL GUIDES:

MCI will send a professional, full-time manager to accompany your group during the entire program. The manager will handle all logistics for your group and provide general information about the regions to be visited. Local guides will conduct tours of specific cities and sites as indicated in your itinerary.

OPTIONAL SERVICES:

MCI can make additional meal or excursion arrangements for the group, for example: lunches, museum tours, theater or performing arts tickets. Prices listed for optional activities are subject to reconfirmation at the time a reservation is made. Group discounts may be available.
